AESS Prize Winners' Concert

Song in the City is delighted to be hosting The Association of English Singers and Speakers for their annual Prizewinners' Concert.

The astonishingly talented young people who have won the prestigious prizes run by the AESS over the last year come together in a showcase concert. The AESS runs five competitions in a year: for singers in three age-ranges (13-18, 18-23, 23-34), for pianists, for young actors, and for young composers. These competitions are nation-wide and the young people who have won this year have achieved something very impressive. They're all fine performers. This will be a glorious event showing talented young people revelling in the glories of the English language in Speech and Song.

The AESS members comprise performers, teachers and those with an interest in our core aim, which is: ‘to encourage the communication of English words, in singing and speech, with clarity, understanding and imagination’. AESS WEBSITE

You Are Loved - Music for Change

You Are Loved - Music for Change
Breaking the cycle of stigma & loneliness through the power of music and community.

Big Gay Out
and Song in the City present ‘Music for Change’ - a charity concert for You Are Loved, in their mission to reduce deaths from suicide and drugs in the LGBTQ+ community.

This event blends the power of classical and musical theatre performance with heartfelt purpose, raising urgent funds while amplifying a life-saving message.

The Vision: Where Music Meets Mental Health Timed to coincide with World Mental Health Day 10 October 2025, the concert will gather outstanding performers for an emotionally resonant, uplifting evening. This is more than just a concert — it’s a call for hope, connection, and community in a time when isolation is costing too many lives.

The Cause: You Are Loved is a grassroots Community Interest Company dedicated to preventing suicide and drug-related deaths in the LGBTQ+ community. Through bereavement support groups, community discussion events, and a new national LGBTQ+ community and support directory that launched in June, the organisation tackles loneliness, stigma, and shame at their roots.

All proceeds from the concert will go directly to fund this vital work.
